Real Fun Traveling Can Make You Excited

Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Why sitting bored at home in your little space and reading, when many other places in this world can make you thrilled. It’s time for a vacation and you should be the big part of it ! Look for some very exciting ads or articles, wherever you may find them, which can give you the facts about some very beautiful environments, you can also personally afford visiting. It is so easy, to get out of your home, following the route, worked out by your local travel agent. Some hours later you can already easily arrive. You should really find out, what are the attractions in this area and get some hints about good restaurants close to your hotel, or addresses for big shopping centers, movie theatres – you name it. So, when you are done in the late afternoon with your daily swimming, surfing and sunbathing, you have still more left to experience.

How do you now wisely choose your travel destination correctly, so you get to the right place?

You should go and view from outside several travel shops and find out, if they look for you attractive enough,so you would like to arrange your travel with them. Maybe I’m a bit picky, but for me plays the decoration in a travel shop somewhere a big role. Because I’m comparing their used imagination, with their ability of having (or not) some incredible travel offers available. I always make my personal travel arrangements only in a very attractive place, where I can feel the real thrill and can get really spiny about Hawaii, Acapulco Mexico, or whatever my biggest dream might be. But I do not say “more expensive” ! In such a store you will much more easily find the destination you really like, and all the needed arrangements fit just perfectly together, so as the price might be completely fine as well.

Don’t hesitate or play around, with booking, buying or paying it the same day !

The best place, the most beautiful room to the right time are available right now, so why slip away trying to come out, because of booking and paying a bit later. It might not be available anymore and you can feel bad, because of that. For an entire year you might be stuck, not have gotten your most desired hotel room. You should talk a bit with your family already during the year, where they would like to go for a vacation, or whatever they like most. Then, one day you can surprise them all, with the present of having booked and paid for the special vacation destination of their dreams.

Travel tips for car hire in South Africa

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

With FIFA World Cup fever mounting, car hire in South Africa is fast becoming one of the most popular options for getting around the country, with many travellers opting for this alternative to traditional tours. Self-drive travel is an ideal way to explore the country at your own pace, by hiring a car for the duration of your stay or for a week or two if you need to get from A to B without having to rely on public transport or lifts from your hosts.

To ensure that your trip is memorable and rewarding, it is always important to keep a few important things in mind when planning a self-drive adventure:

  1. Always make sure that you follow safety procedures. That means you should know and follow the rules of the road at all times. In South Africa, cars drive on the left hand side of the road, and traffic can be very busy at times – especially with mini-bus taxis causing mayhem on the main roads. It is therefore essential to how to navigate these busy roads and to drive carefully and slowly at all times. It is also a good idea to avoid known dangerous areas. Try to find out about the areas you wish to visit before after you have arranged your vehicle hire, this will help you know which areas are safest to travel through and which should be avoided.
  2. Make sure that you have an up to date road map. A good street map is essential to find your way around the cities and towns of South Africa without getting lost. In this country, road names can change every year, so it is important to have a current map that is as recent as 2009 or even 2010 to ensure that it is accurate. If you have a mobile phone with a GPS system, or a separate GPS, this will be a huge help. A good road map will be just as good however, as long as it is current.
  3. Decide on the best car hire options to consider. First, determine what sort of travel you will mostly be doing during your stay. If you are planning to stick to the main cities and towns and need a basic car to get you around, then a small Group L car such as a City Golf will be ideal. If you want to spend more time exploring the countryside and the great outdoors to enjoy camping or adventure sports however, then a Group L car such as a Kia Sportage 2×4 would be your best bet.
  4. Plan your budget and time limits. You may decide that you will need a vehicle for your entire stay, or you may need a car for a shorter duration such as a weekend or few days of your trip. Plan your budget and decide how much you can afford to spend on vehicle rental, and then you can work out the length of time you will need a vehicle. A little bit of planning will go a long way in ensuring that your adventure goes smoothly.
  5. Create your own adventure. As one of the most thrilling and adventurous ways to travel, self-drive travel allows you to see and do the things that interest you most rather than doing the things that the tour guide says you should do. With car rental in South Africa, anything is possible!

Andre Van Kets is the co-founder and IT Director of a leading car hire agency, and offers advice and tips on car hire in South Africa for travelers seeking affordable and reliable self-drive travel solutions.

Traveling on a Budget?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Traveling on a budget means finding a cheap hotel to stay. Location plays a great part in price variation even though it is just within the city. It is for the reason that most of the cheap hotels are very competitive when it comes in offering very affordable prices to the customers.

Most would say traveling requires you to shell out much cash, but little do they know having some knowledge about cheap hotels can save them as much as 50% on the usual rate. That is why it always pays to do a little research beforehand.

Here are some secrets about that you might want to keep if you want to save money:

1. Never lust over something you can not afford, like a luxurious hotel.  Three star hotels cost so much more than a two star ones or cheap hotels but actually the only difference they make is just the extra amenities, which I guess are not even of that importance. Getting a service of a porter or a doorman is may only give you a chance spending more so you might want to avoid this as well. Just always remember to stick to the budget you have allotted for the accommodation.

2. Always choose those smaller hotels run by a family for they are the type that attract customers by offering amazing discounts.  So if you seriously want to save tons of money, then better put this one on your holiday memo.

3. Want to know when almost surely you can get an off on the rate of up to 50%? Go on vacation in off-seasons. Cheap hotels are usually very much available in these times, Sydney hotels are examples. Unless you want to spend more, go on vacation during a peak season.

4. Consider chain hotels part of your plan. Those are the ones that often offer a range of rooms to cater for every want and need. No need to confuse yourself of what they offer since chain hotels normally have smaller rooms that you can choose which, of course, are cheaper then there are the larger and more luxurious rooms which, obviously say you need to pay more.

5. Take advantage of the technology. When was the last time you checked the internet? If you have not, then maybe this is the perfect time you do. Do a little search on the hotel rates of the cheap hotel of your choice and see if they can give you a discount. Sometimes online offers are far better than phone or face-to-face negotiations.

6. And don’t ever for get this one. Always ask individual hotels for any discounts or any existing special offer they have, or maybe a free night for those who will stay for a week or so like some of Sydney hotels offer. You will never know until you ask.

Michael Adam works as a full time staff in cheaphotel.com.au that has lots of travel information and guide about Cheap Hotels throughout Australia and the world. He even works as writer for the company in Sydney Hotels .

Tips for a budget traveler in Moscow

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Moscow is known as one of the most expensive cities in the world. It’s the center of business life in Russia and like magnet it attracts people with ambition. But many Muscovites leaving here are not so wealthy. What are their secrets? Moscow has a lot to offer for budget minded visitors, but it’s important to know some rules.

1. You need to find a good guide book and a map of the city. There is no official tourist info in the city but one can get a free tourist map in one of 5-star hotels in the center of the city.

2. If you travel during the week instead of the weekend you can get much cheaper airline ticket prices.

3. Travel during a low season, avoid high tourist seasons. You’ll save a lot of money on airfare and hotels are cheaper in winter.

4. Get around Moscow by metro. This is the cheapest and fastest way to explore the city.

5. Book the train tickets online without commission. The only difficulty is that online reservation doesn’t give you the actual ticket. In Moscow you’ll need to go to the train station ticket office and collect your ticket.

6. Buy a ticket to Bolshoj theatre online. You don’t have to overpay to a travel agent.

7. Moscow hotels are very expensive. It’s much cheaper to rent a flat (a 1-room flat in the downtown can cost around 140 USD). There’re also several hostels in the very center of Moscow (Napoleon Hostel, HM Hostel Moscow, Yellow Blue Bus Hostel, Comrade Hostel and others)

8. There’re plenty of budget restaurants with tasty traditional food. A meal can cost around 10 USD.  The most popular are Mu- Mu, Grabli, Yolki-Palki. You can also get a special offer during the day. Many restaurants have ‘business lunch’ menu – usually it’s noon to 4 pm on working days. Moscow has lots of local fast-food cafes. You can try a delicious Russian pancake with cheese, mushrooms or caviar in “Teremok” or a stuffed potato in “Kroshka-Kartoshka”.

9. Most of souvenir shops in the city center are very expensive. Go to Izmaylovo souvenir market which offers better prices and a very good choice.

10. Many of Moscow landmarks are free. Visit Red Square, Gum, Lenin’s Tomb, Christ the Savior Cathedral, Sparrow Hills and lots of beautiful parks and gardens.

Visit Moscow! Your Moscow tour guides will make your trip really special

Tips On Traveling Light To Save On Baggage Fees

Wednesday, January 20th, 2010

Packing for a trip, generally speaking, is not a fun task. Trying to guess what to bring, what to wear, and what will be needed can be exhausting. Now that many airlines are charging fees for checking bags, packing light has never been more important, especially if you like to travel cheap.

Try to stick to one bag, and if possible, make it a bag that can be carried on though many airlines are cracking down on carry-ons (especially international flights) so check with your airline in advance. Yes, the thought of this can be terrifying for some, but it really is do-able. Lay all of the clothes you’re planning to take out on your bed, and then remove half. Aim to bring solid-colored pants, skirts and tops that all go with each other. Darker colors are better as they typically hide wrinkles and dirt. Jersey-type fabrics are always a good bet since removing wrinkles at your destination is a snap. You can always dress up an outfit with evening shoes and accessories.

Wear layers and bulky items when you travel. If you think you might need a coat on your trip, wear it on the plane. You can always stow it above or below your seat.

Limit yourself to three pairs of shoes. Bring two pairs of comfortable shoes and one nicer pair. It’s good to have two pairs of comfortable shoes and switch them often to prevent blisters and sore feet if you plan to do a lot of walking on your vacation.

If you’re traveling to some place warm and exotic like Hawaii, Fiji, or Tahiti, packing light is a cinch. Bring an extra swimsuit instead of an extra outfit, and swap one pair of walking shoes for a comfortable pair of flip-flops or sandals.

Pack clothes that can be easily washed and dried. There is no need to pack extra, unnecessary outfits when many hotels offer dry-cleaning services if not an on-site Laundromat. Same-day services are usually available as well. Check with your hotel or cruise in advance.

Pack travel-sized toiletries or even better, buy them when you arrive. Full size toiletries are often bulky and take up a lot of space.

Check your specific airline’s baggage requirements and stick to them. This will help you avoid having to pay extra fees and hassles when checking-in. The point is to enjoy your vacation, not stress about it!

Awesome Boar| Vietnam| Vietnam Travel| Vietnam visa

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

In Lang Son Province, which borders China, die people eat roast meat they call che than. Although it is available at restaurants, originally che than is something a family prepares for special guests. Che than must be served not in bowls or dishes but on three layers of leaves, uppermost moc mat, a kind of succulent apricot, next red-pepper, and at  the bottom a grass that grows by a brook. The eating utensil is a eucalyptus twig sharpened and   heated.

The meat does not go directly    into    the mouth but is dipped in three terracotta bowls, the first containing lard prepared with clay, the second red pepper prepared with cassava alcohol and the third salt prepared with wild banana. Che than is served with one-third of a moc mat leaf that has been soaked in the brook, and part of the stalk of the leaf should be used as a toodipick.

According to Mr Nung Sieng, a che than specialist in Bao Lam Village, Cao Loc District, a wild boar of about 20 kg is the most suitable, and it should come from deep in forest or high on a mountain, to be awe-inspiringly powerful.

A ceremony in worship of mountain gods and forest ghosts is held before the boar is gutted. The carcass should be washed with extract of moc mat leaves mixed with clay mud, soaked in vinegar, covered with a layer of grass taken from beside a brook, buried three days and three nights, washed with herbal extract, embalmed with forest spices, stuffed with moc -mat leaves, trussed with wild-apricot twigs and roasted over a fire fuelled with wood of a special tree that has born fruit; salt has been thrown into the fire. When the skin begins to yellow, a sign that the meat is cooked well, water from the brook mixed with cassava alcohol is poured on to it without putting the fire out; smoke must be kept away lest the che than aroma be dispersed and the awe-inspiring power dissipated. The boar is turned over, and lard coming out of it collected and poured back over it when the feast is about to start.

The cooking of che than is carried out only when the host has made sure nobody-is lurking or eavesdropping.

The meat is displayed on a table covered with moc mat leaves and the host says a mantra to change it into che than.

Because che than is in high demand, wild boar, big or small, are becoming scarce and domestic pigs are substituted. Many families break the law and bring    che    than out    for    sale and   restaurants   prepare   it. It is now available over the border,in China.

Taking Advantage of Singapore Travel Agencies

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

If you are shopping for your next vacation, the best time to look for a travel agency in Singapore would be either February or August of the year. That is when the NATAS (National Association of Travel Agents Singapore) Travel Fair will be held. You can shop around for the best deals offered by the Singapore travel agencies. Tour agencies also offer many advantages that you can take advantage of.

NATAS Travel Fair

This is the biggest travel fair in Singapore. It is held twice a year, usually in February and August, to target customers planning to travel during the Singapore school holiday peak seasons. The travel agents in Singapore will pull out all the stops to offer their best discounts during this time. Competition is fierce and you can likely get a good deal if you make careful comparisons. The crowds are big too so you have to be there early to grab the best travel offers before they are fully taken.

Package Tours

Though not for everybody, package tours often allow you to see a foreign exotic country at a significantly lower cost than if you were to plan your own travel, free and easy style. This is because of the bulk discounts on travel, hotels and meals. If you do not mind sticking to a standard itinerary, choose a package tour to save costs. Alternatively, you can also spend a bit more to extend your stay for a few days so you can explore the place more at your own pace.

Group Discounts

A travel agency in Singapore can offer discounts if you are travelling in a group of four or more. Whether it is discounts on air fares or discounts on tour packages, always ask the tour agency. A big family or group of friends can often get huge savings when booking together with a travel agency. Furthermore, if your group is big enough, the package tour can be arranged exclusively for your group only. No more squeezing with strangers!

Air Ticket Discounts

Travel agencies often have air fare deals offered only to them. Additionally, they may also have purchased air tickets at a bulk discount. You may not be able to find the same deal if you go directly to the airline. So it makes sense to check with these agents when booking an air travel.

Travel Information

Other than the discounts, take advantage of the wealth of information that each travel agency has. You can check with them regarding peak and off peak seasons (important as there are often extra surcharges during peak seasons), weather, suitable food and other destination travel information. Even if you are not taking a package tour, the information from the travel agent can be a base to build your own itinerary on.

These are the benefits one can have by checking with the travel agency. Whether you are in Singapore or elsewhere, you can save more by calling them or doing an online check. The next time you want to travel, take note of these points.

What To Look For In A Discount Travel Site

Saturday, January 16th, 2010

There are a lot of discount travel sites online these days, and it’s hard to figure out which ones are good and which ones aren’t going to give you what you need to not only make a good choice, but to make sure you’re protected later on.  Here are 5 things to look for when deciding on a site.

1.  You want to be able to book at least hotel, airline, and rental car at one site.  If you can’t get at least all 3 of these at once, don’t even bother using the site.  Even if you don’t need one of these, you know that if all 3 are offered you have a great opportunity at getting a great discount if you did.

2.  Are you getting any kind of deal to begin with?  The best way to make sure is to pull up the site for either a hotel or airline, see what their rate is for at least a 3 day stay, and compare it to the discount you should be getting on a discount site.  If you’re not really getting a discount, then don’t bother with the site.  Hopefully, you’re getting a discount of at least 20%, and if that’s the case, then you’re on your way.

3.  A discount travel site should make sure everything you do is easy to understand.  If you have to spend 10 minutes reading through something because it’s confusing, move to another site.

4.  Any good discount site has vacation packages that will offer you even greater savings than usual travel packages will.  You shouldn’t have to search too hard to find them, as they should be displayed somewhere very prominently.

5.  They should have an easy way to contact them directly, either by email, phone, or online chat service.  If you have to search all over the place for contact information, stay away because that means you’ll have problems reaching them if something bad happens as well.

If you’re careful, you will have a positive experience in booking your trip through a discount travel site, which means you’ll also have a good time while on your vacation.

For the best air fares and cheapest hotel rates, visit the leader in online travel planning, including discount family vacations and all inclusive vacation packages, DiscountHotels.com.

8 Ways of Budget Travel For Corporate Travel Solutions

Friday, January 15th, 2010

Here are some corporate travel solutions serve as a reference to all.

1. Book your travel using online booking tool. Corporate saves money each time you book via the online tool instead of a reservation travel agent. There are many online booking tool which are free.

2. Check on hotel freebies. Look for corporate approved or business contract hotels that offer integrated savings such as free wireless internet access or any free broadband services, parking, or breakfast. Eliminating these expenses can save thousands of dollars each year.

3. Share a rental car with a colleague rather than renting two cars, or take the shuttle bus to the office site. Many hotels provide this free shuttle bus services to corporate offices and even some tourist spots.

4. Share hotel room with colleague if no better corporate room available, since this will safe at least total lodging and transportation by half.

5. Research your flight options before purchasing a ticket and save big

  • Purchase a not refundable airline ticket (unless you think your plans may change)…you will get a much better deal.
  • Book your trip in advance and save hundreds of dollars on your flight. Some airlines offer deep discounts for reservations made at least 15 days in advance.
  • Using unused or cancelled airline tickets. In the U.S., you can use funds from your unused/cancelled airline ticket when you book a new flight.
  • Book discounted fares from budgeted Airlines online – You will now see discounted airfare rates and earn double rewards bonuses using many online tool. These discounts will save corporate money and give you the double rewards bonus points.

6. Be sure to use your corporate calling card rather than making calls direct from a hotel phone. You would be surprised how much hotels charge for outbound calls.

7. Eat with a colleague for half price – In the US and ASIA, you can often use your corporate ID or bonus card at lots of local restaurants to get one meal free or at least some discount on meals.

8. Planning a personal trip? Take advantage of corporate negotiated hotel rates, Hertz rental car rates.

Book your travel through online tools or your corporate travel agent, charge your related expenses on your Corporate Travel Card, and process your reimbursements through online system, that makes all process so simple, cost saving and efficient!

Things to know when traveling to Costa Rica

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Before traveling outside your native country to another country you should prepare yourself.  Learning about the country before you go can prevent common problems or confusion.  Cultures vary throughout the world and sometimes a simple misunderstanding can become a big deal.  Learning about the basic life, culture and laws of a country you are traveling to can help you to be prepared and have an enjoyable vacation.

The basic things you need to know include how to get around, business hours and various other points.  Once you get to Costa Rica you need to know how to get around from place to place, especially if you are not within walking distance of your destination.  Buses are the main form of transportation.  It is the most cost efficient and easiest way to get around.  Do be aware that the buses in Costa Rica are small and sometimes cramped.  You will not be able to take along luggage and if you need a lot of legroom you will be in trouble.  Another form of transportation is a rental car.  They are quite more expensive and you need to have insurance that will cover the rental car in case of an accident.  Also know that most rental cars are standards, so if you do not know how to drive one you may be out of luck.  Business hours in Costa Rica are much like that in the United States.  Typically they run from 8 or 9 AM to 3 or 5 PM.  Everyday a lunch break takes place between noon and 2PM.  Also on Sundays most places will be closed.  Costa Rica runs on Central Standard time, which means some of those traveling from the US may get to avoid jet lag all together.  The healthcare system in Costa Rica is very advanced.  They have an excellent system that offers up-to-date medical care in modern hospitals.  You can most often find doctors that speak English as well.  These basic facts will help you to get used to life in Costa Rica, but there are some more things you should get to know.

In Costa Rica there are some legal things you need to know.  If you are renting a car be aware that Costa Rica is a good place to have an accident.  Drivers here rank low for auto accident rates. The speed limits are posted either on signs or painted on the pavement and you should always be aware of them. The speed limits range from 45 to 55 MPH in general.   Costa Rica laws require that all luggage is screened through customs and declarations must be filled out for certain items like food and anything valuable.  Alcohol is legal for those over the age of eighteen.  Also be aware that prostitution is legal in Costa Rica for those over eighteen. When you are ready to leave Costa Rica you should know you will be required to pay an exit fee approx. 27.00.  These helpful hints about legal do’s and don’ts will help you avoid problems while in Costa Rica.

It is always nice to know about little things that are often overlooked on travel websites or in brochures.  The water heaters in hotels in Costa Rica are not like those in the United States.  You will find they are mostly plastic tubes with an electrical gadget in the nozzle.  This means hot water may not always be hot.  The busiest time in Costa Rica is during what is called the high season.  The high season is between December and May.  You may find that getting reservations can be difficult during this time.  You usually do not have to tip while out in Costa Rica.  A 10% tip is added to your bill. Another good thing to know is that the sewer systems can handle toilet paper unlike those in other countries. The water system in Costa Rica is treated and safe to drink. The electricity in Costa Rica is the same as in the United States.  They do not use the grounding prong in some locations, so be aware of the need for adapters for this reason.  Dancing is big in Costa Rica and you can find dance clubs all over.  Laundry mats are not common in Costa Rica.  Most people send their laundry out to be washed. Some vacation rentals offer a washer/dryer as an amenity.  These helpful little hints can help you get through your vacation without a mishap.

Costa Rica is a lovely, peaceful country.  There is a lot to see and do.  Once you have decided on Costa Rica get to know a little more about the country so you can enjoy everything it has to offer.

We traveled to Costa Rica on vacation in 2001. Fell in love with the people and their country. Purchased property on the last day of our vacation and built a vacation villa. Specializing in vacation accommodations, all inclusive and self catering available all of which are surrounded by Costa Rica’s biodiversity. Travel – How To Stay Happy And Healthy While Traveling

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

It doesn’t matter why you’re travelling or what your destination, fatigue, stress, an upset stomach or worse can spell disaster for your trip. Fortunately, the wear and tear of travel can be kept to a minimum with simple advance planning. If you’re looking for a better way to have easier trips and be more comfortable, here are some helpful tips to stay happy and healthy while traveling:

- When packing, you want to consider where you’re going, how long you’ll be away and what the climate is like at your destination. But no matter what sort of trip you’re planning, bring along a well-stocked self care kit.

- Have in your posession familiar store-brought remedies such as Maalox, Mylanta, Gelusil, Tums or Rolaids combat the stomach upset, heartburn and abdominal cramping sometimes caused by unfamiliar food or drink.

- Over the counter preparations like Imodium AD, Kaopectate or Pepto-Bismol are all effective at stopping diarrhea. Tablets are easier to take along on a trip, although the liquid forms of these medications usually offer faster relief.

- Avoid drinking alcohol because it is a depressant, and can aggravate lethargy and fatigue. It can also cause restlessness, which can disturb your sleep or keep you from sleeping altogether and can leave you feeling dehydrated.

- Don’t do to much caffeine because it can leave you feeling dehydrated and out of sorts. Too much caffeine can also cause nervousness, anxeity, tremors and insomnia.

- Make sure you drink plenty of water. Slight dehydration can cause listlessness and fatigue and can even make you prone to mental error – symptoms similar to those of jet lag.

In summary, let’s say you’re planning a trip to the tropics, get immunizations at least one month before your departure. Last minute efforts to obtain shots only compound the ordinary stress occasioned by an overseas journey. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention provides recorded messages outlining immunication requirements and recommendations for international travel.

Wednesday, January 13th, 2010

Now a day’s air travel has become essential for most people and thus knowing about air travel safety can help us to have a safe and secured journey. In recent year air travel has become more effective and safe though many passengers suffer from anxiety and grip fear when they fly.

Once you have decided your destination by aircraft, try to reach the airport at least 10 to 15 minutes earlier. You have to complete all the check in process and drop your luggage before you get inside the flight.  For traveling long hours by aircraft, don’t forget to take books/ magazines to read, iPod and any other appliances that can entertain you. Since you will have some leisure time to pass, these entertaining appliances could help you to make your journey enjoyable.

Air Travel Safety tips:

Health: Before starting up air travel, one must ensure that he knows all the safety measures. Before you fly, keep proper immune system by having full night sleep and balanced diet to avoid sickness. If your immune system is not good then you might easily get infected by bacteria and virus when you fly higher at various regions. Please remember to wash your hands often to avoid spreading of illness.

Seat Belt:  Seat belts are available with all seats in the aircrafts and it is mandatory that all the passengers should tighten the seat belt. Pilot gives these instructions whenever necessary and passengers should be alert to listen to him/her all the time. To avoid inconvenience, passengers should learn wearing the seat belt promptly.

Bigger planes: Choosing bigger planes to fly would be better and safe when compared to small planes. Planes which can carry more than 25 passengers are evaluated and built under different guidelines. Design structure, maintenance and regulations are well planned and built. Due to extraordinary design structure, bigger planes are capable of handling unexpected emergency in air. For short distance you can prefer smaller planes as now a day’s air travel cost has been reduced. Previously only elite class was available and air travel ticket was quite expensive. 7 Benefits of Traveling During the Economic crisis

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

What to do during a crisis? Of course, traveling around the world! For it is during the recession appear the biggest discounts, great offers and low prices.

1. Flights
Fares are low as ever. Fortunately this does apply to Kenya’s airlines and all other parts of the globe, and therefore, plan a long trip and visit several countries.

2. By car in Europe
It became profitable finally make a trip to Europe by car – because gasoline prices are falling!

3. Cheap Hotels
Many hotels are idle without tourists and reduce prices by 30-50%! In advance, make a route and find the best prices on hotels – use search.
Note: The more days you are staying at the hotel, the less pay for the day. Feel free to use discount cards and membership in  different loyalty programs to earn bonuses – even now give bonuses for registering, and then you can spend on accommodation, improving facilities and much more.

4. Voucher and tour
The tour price, for example, in Kenya have cheaper tickets for scheduled airlines. And not just from Nairobi, but from other regions. I do not advise to take the cheapest tour, it is better to first read the reviews, then choose the appropriate type of holiday and the hotel, the more so because now there is an opportunity to relax in a high-standard hotels at an affordable price.

5. Attractions
Most popular locations is now possible to visit without the queues and overcrowded.

6. Recreation and Health
Rather than squander the nerves in these troubled times, it is better to arrange a decent rest. Especially rest will be useful to those who were fired: in the coming months to find a decent job is unlikely to succeed. It is better to take a rest and recreation after a brain will work better health and improved mood, and who knows, but you can come up with something completely new and brilliant, and maybe do you want to change the area of work or start your own business.

7. Shopping
During the crisis, lower prices on goods – is the best time for the amazing shopping: from everyday items.

Car Travel Games for Kids

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

Kids can be such pain when traveling. They will nag you and do all sorts of crazy stuff. The best way to keep them from getting into your nerves as you cruise around is to get something that will keep them busy. There are quite a number of games that can keep them amused and delighted through the journey. Pick any of the games mentioned hereafter to keep them from fidgeting in the backseat.

Printable car bingo games are a great way to occupy kids in the car. You can choose from a wide collection of goodies that can be printed. Pack some lines and dots games, bingo or map. This will grab the attention of the kids as they try to join the dots, print items and even play the bingo games. Apart from that, you can also make a cookie catcher. The kids will not bother you as they will be busy trying to unlock their fortune at the back seat. You can teach them how to make the cookie catcher and how to play the game and then leave them to explore the rest.

Further still, you can help the kids to make a travel journal or diary. Guide them on how to do it then you can leave them to do the rest through the journey. Not only will they have fun while at it, they will also get the chance to keep those travel memories through their lifetime. String figures are also good for kids when traveling. The advantage is that all you will need is a string or a piece of yarn. This will definitely keep their attention away from you as they attempt to make the kitty whiskers, Jacobs ladder, cup and saucer or even play Cats Cradle.

What about some singing from the kids? This will be more fun if you join in and everyone sings along. Give the radio a break and let your kids enjoy themselves as they sing their favorite songs. In addition, kids can also keep themselves busy with aluminum foil. The kids can use this to make different items such as masks and bracelets. This piece allows them to stretch their creativity and is a fun activity for kids.

A road trip is also a good chance for you to keep the kids on a scavenger hunt. Assign them items to look out for while traveling. The kids’ duty is to identify the items as you drive. This will keep them on the lookout while allowing you to drive without interference. Apart from that, you can also get some roadside oddities. The counting Cows Car game is also relevant while traveling. The kids can play this game and even throw in some cow jokes while at it.

The license plate game will definitely keep them busy. Each child gets a page where they will mark the license plates they sight. 5 Musts For Your Travel Bag

Friday, January 8th, 2010

Now that you are all set for a vacation and waiting to step out of your house you need to give a careful look at your baggage again. Your luggage should not miss anything that would be required during the journey and during the whole trip.

“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money. Then take half the clothes and twice the money.” – Susan Heller

1. Safety of your valuables
While packing don’t keep all your valued articles like credit card, cash, traveler’s check and your passport etc. in the same bag. They must get place in different pockets and bags. In case your baggage is stolen then you may have certain things left with you. For an intelligent travel you may scan your passport, paper tickets and other details and store them in your email account. This may serve purpose when you loose all your belongings. You would even have an advantage when you meet the authorities at the embassy for your passport.

2.Portable items
While packing your toiletries make sure that you don’t carry large and heavy bottles and tubes of cosmetics. Shop for smaller packs and carry them along. You won’t wish to add unnecessary weight to your luggage and if by chance the bigger bottles spill then they may even spoil your other belongings.

3. Plastic bags
Environmentalists would say not to use plastic bags but until they are readily available you may take the privilege to use them but please don’t litter plastic bags. I suggest that you can pack your toiletries in plastic bags and keep a few extra. The extras would come in handy to keep your dirty clothes separate and they can also be used to through away some garbage etc. I started keeping my clothes in plastic bags and have realized that the clothes don’t get crushed inside the baggage.

4. Plan your clothes
Your clothes are as important as your excursion or meeting. Plan what you would wear and how many clothes would you need in total. It is obvious that you cannot carry all that is in your wardrobe. I plan clothes that suits every occasion and also keep in mind the weight of luggage.

5. Medicines and Prescription

If you are under any kind of medicines then don’t forget to keep a stock of them with you because you may not find you medicine in some different city and you won’t wish to waste your precious time in looking for the medicines all round the city. It is wise to carry your doctor’s prescription too. Unfortunately, if you are taken ill then any doctor would get a clue of your medical history.

So, cross-check you luggage, board your transport on time and head off to you destination. It’s time to break free from all your worries.

“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.” — Lin Yutang

Best Guide for Adventure Travelers in America

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

In 1996 two friends and I undertook our first backpacking experience. We traveled from Costa Rica to Guatemala in six months. We originally planned to travel for a year, but half way decided to do something more useful with our presence in Central America and applied for volunteer jobs in Honduras and Guatemala

Adventure Travelers in America

The travelers we met during our adventure were very different from the travelers you would meet now on the same route. Most people were, like us, looking for a real escape. It would have been rare to find anyone traveling for less then three months. As a matter of fact, most people had started in the northern region of the continent.

They would give themselves eight months or more to do so. The main reason for their trip was not so much traveling in itself; most backpackers were looking for a different lifestyle, which they had found traveling this region. They had already found what they were looking for and had been successful in becoming accomplished adventurers. These adventurers had more time than money and were consciously escaping the first world. The idea was to make a statement against modern life. Traveling to third world countries was their way of expressing disagreement with the hectic first world.

Changes in Central American Tourism

As so very often, things have changed. Tourism in Central America has grown enormously. Nowadays, you will find a different kind of backpacker there. This adventure seeker needs to work harder to find his escape. He will need to travel to even less accessible locations to avoid the vacation atmosphere found in popular destinations throughout Central American countries. Backpacking and adventure tourism has grown more fashionable over the last ten years. It is now most common to take a two or three-week holiday to an exotic place like Guatemala.

The new wave of travelers in third world countries has both downsides and upsides. Tourism is a great way for the local community to develop themselves and create better living conditions. Unfortunately modern tourists have demands that can compromise local communities, forcing them to change their way of life.

A New Profile

What about the environment?

The original article can be found at Adventure Travel: Adventure Travel

The new adventure tourist is much less adventurous as our explorers ten years ago. He is not interested in departing from daily first-world life. He is simply looking for a short break from it all, from the busy, stressed out atmosphere experienced daily in the fist world. This adventurer does not have the time to really adjust to another lifestyle; he just wants a taste of it. Not genuinely interested in getting to know a third-world lifestyle, he is naturally not willing to live like the locals surrounding him on his travels. As if the world is one big museum, he wants to be there and watch from a short distance, experience it without being stuck in it. And with all the riches the world has to offer, who can blame him?

The consequence is that local hotels and restaurants need to adjust their services to this new demand, even if this means loosing their own culture. Although the current traveler claims to be interested in other cultures, he is really demanding it to change to his needs so that he can experience it the way he desires. A shift in backpacking culture is leading to a shift in local third-world culture.

Travelling To Tropical Places

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

It is easy to travel to tropical areas, because they are populated by humans. Travelling to the rainforest however is a little bit more complicated. You can read about types of travelling in this article.

If you want to lie on a tropical beach, there are several countries to choose from; most of them are either located in South Asia or South America.

You can find cheap accommodation in these countries. On the other hand the airfares can be quite expensive (depending on your departure destination). So look on the internet and at the agencies to find the best travel deals. Finding the best deal can save you a lot of money on your trip.

The Amazon in Ecuador, South America is another popular tropical destination. Depending on which areas that is restricted for tourists, you can visit six different regions. The regions are: Zamora Chinchipe, Pastaza, Santiago, Morona, Sucumbios, Orellana.

Tena and Coca are the two only cities in The Amazon. It takes 6 hours to travel by bus to Tena, and the bus normally does not make any stops during the trip. The price for the whole trip is $7.

It is best to travel in groups for better safety when visiting The Amazon. It is also ideal to find a tour guide who knows about the surrounding areas, animals and plants.

You can stay in the middle of the jungle in a jungle lodge; if you have the time and budget. Included in the price is usually also canoe trips, biking and fishing.

The price per night in the lodge normally ranges from to $100USD to over $250USD; depending on the package and the quality of the lodge. You can get it much cheaper if you book the package while you are in Ecuador instead of booking them from home.

Security Travel Tips

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

If a lot of things can happen and go wrong, so after a few simple rules can prevent many problems meeting other travelers on the road. Ok, sometimes problems occur, but can be prevented in the first place, the journey can be less stressful than the end of May in place of their own pocket. Nobody wants to spend time in a police station, while you leave on vacation, let alone too much anxiety. It is easy to watch when on holiday and have fun, but it is when they are particularly vulnerable to travel safely on the common sense to guide you.

Nature did us all a very effective means for survival in unknown circumstances, we speak of instinct and learn to trust him. Always be cautious about traveling with all your documents and money if only to go into town to see the sights and meals. Simply always what) you need for the day and safely store the remainder (essential travel documents and cash in the room or safe. A simple thing to do to protect your money is not easy to carry all at once or leave him alone in one easy place in which a thief can steal everything fairly.

As an additional measure, if you are unsure of the move methods, carrying out credit cards from different accounts, if you have a theft or lose, only fall back for seconds. In recent years have perfected the art of Thieves steal handbags and cameras to tape, but if you take the strap to the head and chest, the more difficult to cut without a band. When you leave you must be on the sidewalk as motorcycles and cars can not drive here and if you hang a bag or camera from his shoulder off the road is not so simple. We have all about the fraud that different people have fallen into the truth is read that people are still for this because the fraudsters are professionals and well.

This complacency can cause problems, because these people do these things live, but only a little more attention could make it much harder for them, what is not theirs. A small backpack can be a good idea because it can be secured with a small padlock which although not prevent, the thief intended to prevent slowly and surely, most who try their luck. To preserve your security code, why do not you buy one of these climbers and small chains attached to a belt or bag, because it is inconvenient, by trying to abolish them. Men and women lose their wallets for men are in their back pocket wallets and women who open their wallets, making it easier for men to change their place to keep your portfolio and women in order to ensure that your case is closed. There is absolutely no reason it should not go on holiday safe in the situation, and have a carefree, fun just sticking points mentioned here and use your common sense at all times.

Where Should I Go for Adventure Travel Vacations

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

When thinking of vacations, traditionally we think of fancy hotels, sandy beaches and filling up on too many alcoholic drinks. Or maybe we think of hi-rise buildings, expensive dining, Broadway Theater, and filling up on too many alcoholic drinks. Whatever the picture is, from a tropical Caribbean island getaway, to a cozy Bed + Breakfast near a secluded ski resort, in all likelihood, your vision does not include deep

Adventure travel vacations and overseas adventure tours are fairly new concepts to many people. The idea of a “hiking vacation”, for instance, one where you sleep in eco-lodges, or tents under the stars, where you travel on horseback, or on foot, and where you carry your daily food on your back, these are not the normal activities that come to mind when one thinks of going on vacation. More and more people, however, are slowly changing the notion of what a vacation can and cannot entail.

Overseas adventures are something everyone should experience at least once in a lifetime. There is so much to be said for getting away from the normal, from the mundane, from what you’re used to. Even just going on an adventure outdoors, whether it be as simple as camping out in the backyard, or going on a nature walk around your neighborhood, these easy activities offer us a chance to unwind, to relax, and to appreciate the world that both surrounds us and supports us.

Getting Away

Take this simple concept of enjoying nature and relaxing, or perhaps venting, or even “getting away” from the stresses of life, and expand it to include countless other activities, really anything you can imagine doing outdoors, and there you have one of the key dimension for the idea of adventure travel vacations and overseas adventure tours.

The concepts of traveling, of seeing new places, meeting new people, exploring other realities around the globe, these are concepts that have been around for centuries. But it hasn’t been until the past 20 years that the overseas adventure tours and adventure travel vacations in general have taken-off. Nowadays tour companies create packages for tours that were formally only appropriate for the native intrepid backpacker. Eco tourism has shown itself to be more dynamic at times then the environment, incorporating new and exciting ways of manipulating the tradition hiking vacation.

The Future

And some may ask, “Is this a good thing?”. What about the environment? For that, we’ll have to wait another 20 years and see how both legitimate and “so-called” eco tour operators pan-out.

Ajmer TraveL Information

Friday, January 1st, 2010

“Ajmer-e-Sharief can get up to 10-lakh visitors during Urs,” warned the hotel staff at Pushkar Palace, as we prepared to drive down to Ajmer from Pushkar on the second day of Urs [Urs marks the death anniversary of Sufi saint Khawaja Moinudeen Chisti, known as `Garib Nawaz`; the gathering is considered the second largest assembly of Muslims, after Mecca]. Little wonder then that he sounded out another warning: “Don`t go if you can`t handle crowds.”

Though we were intimidated at the prospect of battling teeming masses in the serpentine lanes leading to the Dargah, we decided to give it a try anyways; we had heard that scores of people throng the pilgrimage centre with entreaties as it is universally held that irrespective of religious leanings, those who pray at the tomb will not appeal in vain.

With that in mind, we branched off National Highway 8 towards the hills that cradle Ajmer. Overnight, a diminutive provincial town had been transformed into a heaving metropolis. Scores of pilgrims were milling around; some unrolling their bedding on the pavement, others cooking community meals on large stoves. The police had barricaded the road 10-km before the Dargah and we hired a horse-cab halfway and subsequently hoofed it.

We approached the Dargah through a busy marketplace hawking handicrafts, attar [local perfume], saris, and religious paraphernalia. Innumerable beggars patrolled the street and we were taken aback that despite approaching the police for respite, they did not utter a word to them! Moving on, qawwals sang praises of the Sufi saint and many people were walking with them, and singing discordantly. Shortly, a gate led us into the first courtyard. On an elevated pyramid, was a massive cauldron gifted by Akbar in1567. I was surprised to see a small mosque in a corner of the courtyard. Beyond, the saint`s tomb dominated the inner courtyard.

Entering the precincts of the Dargah was like entering a surreal world. The clamour of the street faded as we walked through a marble gateway built by Emperor Shahjahan. There were thousands of people within but murmured prayers suffused the area. The numbers were remarkable, as were the different religions from which the pilgrims were drawn, underlining the saint`s belief that all religions are one, merely different manifestations of the same divine reality.

Pushkar TraveL Information

Friday, January 1st, 2010

14-km from Ajmer, Pushkar is legendary among travellers looking for new experiences. It offers much more than most weekend getaways can hope to pack in: temples, ghats, street bazaars, cafés, and of course, desert safaris. As a religious site, Pushkar practically sells itself: it is home to one of the two Brahma temples in the country. The region is a labyrinth of 500-odd temples, 52 ghats and palaces clustered around a holy lake.

According to legend, the lake sprang up at the spot where a lotus fell from Lord Brahma`s hands-and has curative properties. Religious site notwithstanding, Pushkar is an artsy hippie region peopled with sadhus, hippies and pilgrims. On the one hand, it attracts the flower child. On the other, it is a sanctified spot characterized by temples and ghats. Whether you detoxify in a heritage hotel, take part in religious rituals, study temple architecture, or simply do touristy things like shopping, eating out and camel safaris, Pushkar has much to draw you in.

For the uninitiated, it has been on the hippie circuit for years is easily available in this vegetarian and alcohol-free town! The town is very small and as someone put it, “you could pretty much cover it in about an hour”. Pushkar has all requisite distractions; visitors can purchase florescent shirts, a set of drums, paintings, books, trance and reggae CDs, religious paraphernalia, silver jewellery, sequinned and embroidered sandals, blankets, and handmade weapons; try multicuisine delicacies at cafés littering the marketplace; and party at night-long desert raves. More surprises awaited in the form of Salvador Dali! Emporiums in Sadar Bazaar either hawk paintings, wall hangings, diaries and T-shirts of his works or inspired thereby.

If Rajasthan is a land of diversity, Jaipur is its most sublime expression. The seduction`s easily explained. Jaipur is a city of vivid and unforgettable images: Jal Mahal [a palace in the midst of Man Sagar lake], ochre-pink buildings, camels standing astride a Mercedes Benz at traffic lights, theatres showing  films in a busy marketplace[!], artisans engaging in block printing, gem cutting, and puppet making.

The staggering maze of old-world palaces and forts-the city`s archaeological treasures-are for many the sole reason for traveling to Jaipur. I began my odyssey at a vantage point in the city-Amer fort, Jaipur`s grand icon and showpiece. A centre of royal pomp under the reign of Raja Man Singh, Amer was initially a palace complex within the original fort, which is today known as Jaigarh fort. Connected with Amer through fortified passages, Jaigarh fort is renowned for the world`s biggest cannon on wheels, Jai Ban.

By 10 a.m., the tourists are out on the streets, battling crowds and traffic as they wind their way from palaces and baroque buildings to the ruins of antiquity. Indeed, Jaipur often appears to have two populations: one of locals and another of visitors. The old city is a fascinating place to wander around, with its quaint bazaars [there`s a market that only sells bangles!], artisans` digs, and the Hawa Mahal [it is part of the City Palace and has 953 windows]. During the winters especially, it plays host to a horde of sightseers who converge on it with guidebooks and cameras in hand. To all-Americans, Europeans, Indians-Jaipur extends a warm welcome … wining, dining, and entertaining them in its inimitable fashion. The traffic, unfortunately, is worse than ever.
