Cited as the birthplace of western culture, it forms one of the seven continents of the world and is surrounded by the Arctic and Atlantic Oceans, and the Mediterranean and Black Seas.

Due to its close proximity to the UK, Europe is an ideal travel destination for those looking to escape on a short break. Indeed, offering up a number of different locations, all sited within a few hours of Britain, there’s a wealth of exciting cities and environments to explore.

With so much to choose from, though, it can be hard work figuring out which part of Europe to head to. However, offering up some of the best cultural treats in the world, as well as a superb range of iconic landmarks and sights of interest, the major capital cities are a great starting point.

The world’s top tourist destination, Paris is a definite must-see. Home to a huge array of cultural attractions like the Louvre and Eiffel Tower, the French capital also offers up a packed annual events programme. Due to its unique charm and famous sights, over 30 million people flock there each year.

Amsterdam, on the other hand, is ideal for those looking to take some time out and escape from the hustle and bustle of the larger cities. Filled with a jumble of canals, parks and quirky architecture, there’s a lot to discover in this historical capital city. The Museum Square is the site of Amsterdam’s most influential museums and, as such, is well worth visiting.

When you go to book your trip to Europe, whether it be to one of its lively capital cities or a more remote part of the countryside, there are a number of travel options to chose from such as flying, driving, or taking the ferry. However, because of the advantages to be had, it can often be a good idea to travel by train.

In fact, eliminating the need for having to make stressful travel arrangements, the train can help you to maximise your holiday time. For example, you can choose to travel by day, where you’ll get the opportunity to soak up the stunning scenery as you journey throughout Europe, or at night, where you can sleep in comfort and arrive at your destination fully-refreshed.

Not only that, but with a lot of the trains reaching speeds of up to 186 mph, you can reach many parts of the continent within a few hours of leaving the UK.

Owing to the many enticing Europe travel deals on offer, millions of people head there every year. There’s a wealth of cultures and landscapes to explore and with accessible travel options like the train to choose from, everyone has the opportunity to discover all that’s on offer, regardless of whether they’re looking for a luxury or budget holiday.

Create Your Own Travel Discounts

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Hotel and rental car owners don’t just offer you discounts at random, you have to ask for it work for it, and sometimes, these discounts aren’t even worth it, well unless you’re looking to traveling during off peak season where there is at most a 50% discount. But let’s face it, we travel during peak season because this is the season when we actually have time to travel. So aside from waiting for your favorite hotel’s tirade of discounts during off peak season, when you can’t really travel and then end up not traveling at all, why not take the initiative and find your own ways to cheap travel, make your own discount.

- Check detour flights other than the straight one you’re bound to get when you inquire. You can get cheaper overall prices if you choose to book two flights instead of one. Some people have been able to save as much as $2000 by doing this.

- It is always better to buy food at the grocery and cook it yourself rather than eating everyday at a restaurant. You won’t want to spend all of your pocket money on food. Restaurants tend to have cheap and sometimes unhealthy food, ensure your own health as well as your pockets health by cooking your own, that is, after all, the reason why there’s a stove in your hotel room.

- Travel to places which boast of natural beauty but have lower costs of living, prices here tend to be lower. Take the Philippines or Malaysia for example, both have great views and tourist spots but come without the hassle of overpricing, English speaking natives are also a plus for these countries.

- If you’re planning to stay for more than a week, call the hotel that you’d want to stay in and ask for week long stay discounts, these can range for percentages off your room price or even a “free day.”

- Package deals usually save a lot, airfare and lodgings combined into one are usually cheaper compared to paying for them separately. Some travel agencies even provide trio packages which include airfare, hotel and car rental, you can save a lot if you have the industriousness to canvass.

- Find web-only discounts or coupons which some hotels and airline owners provide especially for those willing to reserve online. You can save as much as 50% on your travel costs by going this way.

Security Precautions For Travelers

Monday, October 26th, 2009

A common travel advice that is often disregarded is maintaining personal safety. Sometimes, we become too complacent that we realize our mistake until it is too late. Whether we are at home or outdoors, we should take certain measure to ensure security. Travelers are especially at risk because they usually become disoriented when faced with an emergency.

As we all know, our appearance is a large factor. We should strive to look less like a stranger or tourist and more like a local. Outrageous outfits are the first to be eliminated for this serves as a sure sign to the locals that we are not from the place. Opt for simple and comfortable clothes and steer clear of expensive jewelry. In order to avoid the wrong crowd, then we should not give them any more reasons to target us.

Only bring your essentials and leave anything that you don’t need. Those who travel abroad are well aware of the virtue of traveling light. A single luggage should be sufficient for all our things. This has many advantages for it lends added mobility and makes us better able to keep an eye on our belongings. Moreover, we are also able to thwart possible malicious attempts.

Cash, credit cards and important documents such as passport should be the first to be secured. The general travel advice is to keep them in separate concealed places inside your luggage. Handbags, fanny packs and outside pockets should be crossed out as safe places. This is because they are the first things that a possible thief is looking out for. Although keeping valuables in a single pouch is generally inadvisable, you could do it if it is worn underneath your clothing. But if you really want to be certain that your valuables are safe, keeping them in a hotel safe could be an option.

Those who plan for overseas travel usually bring a lot of cash with them. However, this step is unwise; traveler’s checks and credit cards should be brought instead. We can avoid the inconvenience of a lost or stolen passport by preparing in advance. By keeping an extra set of passport photos handy as well as a photocopy of our passport’s information page, we can easily avail ourselves of a replacement.

Label all your belongings and put down the necessary information like your name, address, and contact numbers. This makes your luggage easily recognizable and it also serves as a precaution in case you forget in somewhere. An extra security procedure would be to lock your luggage, especially if it contains your valuables.

Finally, it is best to leave a copy of our schedule with friends and family. This is especially important when our travel abroad takes a number of days. The more we are in contact with our social support system, the more secure we are. We are better able to inform them of possible changes in our trip or any emergency we may encounter.

Finally, coordinate your trip with friends or family who will be left at home. A social support system is important for security especially if you are to travel abroad for a considerable number of days. You could purchase a telephone calling card which would serve as a convenient means of keeping in touch with friends and family. This is so that in cases of emergency, you can easily contact them and vice versa. Make security a top priority and be alert and aware of your surroundings. Being on vacation doesn’t mean that your security should take a break as well. By following this advice, you can enjoy safe and secure overseas travel.

Presenting The GlobeCheap Travel Guide Book

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

Just why should we travel with a guidebook?

Isn’t a travel guidebook just one more thing to carry around? Can’t you get all the information you need now on the Internet? Yes, you probably can, but once you’re on the road, are you going to carry a laptop around with you? How much time do you want to spend surfing on your phone… and how much will that cost you?

Check the Internet, surf, do your research, watch TV shows, but get a good travel guidebook. You should research travel guidebooks just like you do your travel. Check to see that it fits your travel style.

Make sure it’s a current edition so the information is as up-to-date as possible. Things change so fast that even the current edition could be a little out of date…. and that’s if they update it yearly. Many are only updated every two or three years.

So, you ask, doesn’t that mean that the Internet is better… more up to date? Well, we do suggest doing research on the Internet, but the answer is still… take a good travel guidebook. It’s just so handy to have with you when you’re in a museum or church, and you want to read the explanations. If you’re driving along, and you want to see what there is in that cute little town you’re driving through… you have that book in hand.

You can borrow an old one from a friend or get one at the used book store… they will be good for museums and historic sites that have been around forever. I mean, the descriptions for those castles probably haven’t changed in a century or two. But sometimes opening hours change, or the days that they’re closed, or they could be closed for renovation.

With an old book, you might find yourself searching for a hotel or restaurant that has been closed since the last edition!

Travel guidebooks differ in whom they cater to, so check through several to see which one has the information that YOU need. A good one will help you find accommodations and restaurants in your price range.

You can get some that break accommodations into categories for budget, middle, and high end travel. Having that kind of information will help you quickly find the lodging or restaurant that you will be happy with.

When you travel to a place that you’ve never been to before, a good guidebook will give you the information you need to travel like an old pro in the area…. and isn’t that better than trying to remember what you read on the Internet?

Do yourself a favor and get a current edition of a book whose author you enjoy reading. You can even check a few out of your local library so you can really study them before you buy one. Go to a bookstore that specializes in travel or one that has a large travel section so you can look at several different books. Get the one that seems to best fit your travel style.

Your trip will go more smoothly when you have the right information at your fingertips…. that’s why you should always travel with a guidebook.

If yourhotel doesn’t include breakfastin the priceof the room, checkto see what youroptionsare in the hotel. You will probably savemoneyventuring out to a cornercafe rather than paying the pricefor the hotel breakfastbuffet. In Paris, join the localcrowd and have coffee, juice and a croissant.

Have churros con chocolate in Madrid. There are lotsof small breakfastplaces;in the U.S. where you can get a greatbacon, eggs and coffee breakfastfor only a few bucks.

A greatway to stretch yourtravelbudgetis to enjoya picnicfor lunch or dinner. You can pick up cheesesand meats and breads at localgrocery storesand specialtyshops. Graba bottle of localwine. Eat in yourroom or in a localpark with a greatview.

Avoid touristy restaurants. If you see a restaurant on the main street thathas menus in several languages, it'sgoing to cost you more. Finda mom and pop placedown a side street or go with a recommendation from a local…. like yourfriendly B-and-B host. Look for "prixfixe” menus or daily specials for greatmeals at goodprices;.

One of our most memorable meals was a little restaurant our host sent us to in Assisi. We had trouble findingit… there was no sign. There were only threeor four tables. The owner was the cook, his wifewas the waitress. Neither spoke English, and she had to get a dictionaryto help us order...but the foodwas terrific, and the billwas surprisingly small.

Findthe openair markets in townand eat there. Cafeterias in department storescan also be a goodplaceto findfoodcheap. Eatfoods;thatare in season. That’s what the locals;do. Today’s freshspecials will cost you less and be healthier.Another way to savelike the locals;do is to eat and drinkwhat is special in thatcountry. Drink beer in Brussels and Prague, savethe winefor Paris. Rememberthatin many countries in the world, the tip is included. In those counties, if you leave anything, you should only leave small change. If you'retipping15-20% like Americans do at home, you'retippingway too muchand adding thatto the priceof yourtrip.

Don’t feel pressed to ordertoo muchfor dinner. For example, justhaving a “primi” (pasta dish),but no “secondi” (main dish) in Italy, may be plenty for you to eat… justadd a salad, and you’ll savemoneyover a threecourse meal.Ask for tap water instead of bottled water in counties where the water is safe. Ifyou justtry a few of our tips, you can eat well and stillstretch yourtravelbudgetto go farther.

Travel In Style On A Budget

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

You may think back to occasions where you were playing on the beach, or simply enjoying a meal. It’s funny to think that many of the most simple aspects
of a holiday are often retained for longer in the memory. You may well note that your memories don’t often concern the expense of an individual holiday.
This comes as a surprise to many parents who might otherwise imagine that they can provide a better holiday by spending more money.

Today’s economy has left everyone feeling uptight and stressed, and you might be thinking that nobody needs a vacation more than you and your family.
But you might be worried, and thinking, “How can I afford a vacation right now?” Well, you can no matter what your budget range or what type of
vacation you are longing for. Here is a list of great, budget-friendly vacation ideas.

Ski vacations in the summer! Here’s something I bet you never thought of – hitting the slopes for some summer fun. What? That’s crazy! (I know that’s what you’re thinking.) It’s true that even though you wouldn’t be able to ski, there are lots of fun activities you can still have a great time enjoying in the mountains and with a far more affordable price. You can go hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, tubing, horseback riding and fishing. The views will be spectacular and you will have extremely discounted summer rates. Do give this some consideration.

Travel the tropics in the summer. Another great place to travel in the off season and find some amazing prices on hotels and flights is the Caribbean.
The only thing you will need to keep in mind is you may arrive during the hurricane season so check the forecast carefully before you go, and purchase
travel insurance. But honestly, you can visit really cheap during this time and save lots.

There is something for everyone at Six Flags Great America, and families can save a lot of money with Six Flags Great America coupons. Parents with small children can check out Wiggles World, Bugs Bunny National Park, and Camp Cartoon. Kids can ride on Scooby Doo’s Mystery Machine or “fly” on red planes at Wiggles World. They can go round and round on the Flinestones’ Rocky Road Rescue Service.

For the budget traveler in Japan, there are a number of cities that veritably scream for attention. Tokyo remains a very popular city with tourists
thanks to its cosmopolitan culture and great vibrancy. This is the capital of Japan and it’s a city so full of life it inevitably leaves an
indelible mark on the minds of those who visit.

The Ultimate Travel Guide Book For Travel Money Savers

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

If you want to be a frugal traveler, you need to think up all kinds of money savers. You could make a game of thinking about all the little things you can do to save money while you’re traveling, but why struggle if you can find everything you need to know in just one travel guidebook.

The GlobeCheap travel guidebook looks at every single possible travel saving that exists, but here a just a few day to day items that might just appear to be common sense, but they are often things that may be over looked whilst traveling.

If your hotel doesn’t include breakfast, and you’ll have to buy it yourself, you could stop at a store the night before and get some fruit and yogurt, bread or pastries.

We always think it’s a fun part of travel to go to a grocery store just to see what’s available. A lot of hotels and bed-and-breakfasts have coffee or tea pots in them now, so with a few groceries, you’ll be all set for a frugal breakfast.

And since we’re talking about eating here, eat your big meal at lunch when prices are cheaper.

Buy beer, wine or alcohol at local stores and have your cocktails on your hotel room balcony, or on a beach, or in a park. If you want to have beer or wine with your dinner, ask for local brews or wines. They’ll be cheaper than imported and big name items. We love learning about all the different grapes that wine is made from around the world, and there are many counties that are justifiably proud of their local beers.

Look into metro passes. Many cities have one, three, and seven day passes that could be real money savers if you plan to use the buses, subways, and trams a lot. Always do the math though to make sure you will use them enough to make this worthwhile. Do your research ahead of your travels… some international rail and travel cards must be purchased before you arrive in a country.

Take a local bus line… some can substitute for an expensive sightseeing tour. Many cities have buses that pass by all the big sites. Ask about them at the tourist office.

If you’re traveling cross country, consider taking an overnight train or flight. It could be cheaper than a daytime flight or train, and you will save money by not needing a room for the night. Sure the “red-eye” flight might be a little uncomfortable, but think of how much that hotel room would cost. If it’s an overnight train you’re taking, you can buy a sleeper berth for a lot cheaper than a hotel room.

Stop at a local visitors center. They can tell you about local money savers…. tell you if there are free days at museums and give you information on city passes. The visitor’s center might have coupons for discounts; they’ll at least have brochures and free maps. Check with these visitors centers online before your trip to see if there are things you should purchase before you leave.

A museum pass can save you money AND time. You won’t have to waste valuable vacation time standing in line, and sometimes, time is money. If a museum pass won’t be a good value for you, you can call or e-mail most popular museums for a reservation. You’ll get an appointment for an entry time and walk right past those lines.

The basic winning concept of the GlobeCheap travel guidebook is that planning for those money savers along with all the rest of your travel plans might just let you keep on traveling even in tight economic times, and we all love to travel.

Packing Before you Travel

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

When you plan to travel, it is wise to pack relevant travel items in advance in order to avoid hassles in the last minute. This means that the person planning a trip can pack leisurely, relax and even have a cup of coffee just before the commencement of the trip, and be guaranteed of safe, alert and comfortable travel. Secondly, advance packing enables a person to determine what is required and avoid forgetting some of the most essential items for the journey or packing items that may not be required throughout the entire trip. It is noteworthy that if a person packs in a rush, he or she may leave some items, only to remember them after covering some 30 or 300 miles of the trip.  Packing in advance also enables people to plan their trips and determine what kind of snacks to carry where to make stopovers, and the items required at each stopover. This includes the activities to be carried out at each point.

In order to have a successful road trip, one needs plan beforehand to determine all that is required by the traveling party. Planning will ensure that items that can be bought along the way are not carried in order to avoid unnecessary filling of the car. One of the vital things to consider during packing is clothing. It is important to pack comfortable clothes and shoes. Along this line, the person doing the packing should consider using outfits that have been tried before in order to avoid  injuries or blisters as a result of putting on tight clothes or shoes in the course of the trip. While packing clothing, one should consider the prevailing weather. Chilly nights need button denim shirts and light blankets while hot afternoons need light clothing such as T-shirts. It is important to avoid over packing if laundry services can be found at the destination.

For hygiene purposes, it is important to pack some antibacterial wipes for cleaning spills in the car or sanitizing hands after handling some of the car’s dirty parts such as gas tank. Towels are needed for use after having meals and are handy just in case there is any mishap in the car.

The road trip is not complete without nice snacks. Packed snacks will save travelers the hassles of stopping by restaurants and candy shops to buy packs of chips, fruits or sweets.  Thus, the traveling group should consider carrying some freshly dried fruits, nuts, spread, cream cheese, carrots, and salads. Cold foods can be comfortably packed in a compact cooler.

For electronics, it is important to carry phone and IPod chargers, laptops, GPS devices, and travel alarm clocks. Additionally electronic game devices will be handy for entertaining children in the course of the trip. One also needs to pack some items to be used at the destination such as sunglasses and bathing suits. Online Tourist Travel Information

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

One of the hardest parts of planning an overseas trip is knowing where all the best places to stay are. Finding New Zealand tourist information is no different. Sure you can buy a guidebook, and follow it to the letter, you can book a 12 day whistle stop tour and blast your way through the country so fast you can barely breathe, or maybe you could even blindfold yourself, step onto a giant map of New Zealand, and write down all the places you walk over as you stumble from one end of the living room to the other, but who knows if you are getting to see the best parts New Zealand has to offer?

What if the guidebook is out of date? It is often only written by a small group of people who got free accommodation to write a great review. It’s hardly impartial is it? And that tour can look great on paper, but what is it really like? As for the blindfold and the map idea, you might end up with a headache bigger than the one you got when you tripped over the coffee table while you did your map walking thing. Who knows where to stay? Where to go? What to see?

So where can you go to find the New Zealand tourist information you need? Like anything, finding real people to talk to helps. If people just like you have found a cool spot that had the most amazing views, the campground with the best amenities, the tours that gave the best value for money, surely you’d want them to tell you all about it right?

Getting the personal touch of experience stamped all over your NZ tourist information can help you cut out a lot of time and energy selecting the places and events that fit your personality the most. You can find out from a wide range of people whether a place lives up to other tourists expectations without having to plough through all that confusing marketing speak.

If you are looking for independent NZ tourist information look online for places that have honest and fair critiques that come from tourists just like you. There are many reputable and trusted online travel review websites available, which not only offer travelers opinions, but also interactive forums that you can participate in. Post comments and receive firsthand experience and travel advice from other tourists about various New Zealand regions, activities and attractions. It will help you have a holiday to remember for all the right reasons.

Through talking with thousands of travelers while running their own adventure tourism business, company owners Cymen Crick and Nick Morrison discovered that there was a clear need for independent travel information for NZ, free of bias and written by the traveler, for the traveler.

Traveling Without Bedbugs

Monday, October 19th, 2009

Bedbugs have become epidemic in at least 25 states. What were once parasites associated with dirty hotels or third world countries, have reemerged as enemy number one as far as insect pests go.

Along with dust mites and the lesser talked about scabies, bedbugs are infesting hotel after hotel in every major city in America, as well as Europe and Canada. While this modern outbreak has been going on for the past 5 years, the media has only began reporting on this scourge over the last couple of years.

Tourists who, a few years ago, would just shrug off any report on bedbugs, have begun to sit up and take notice. Bedbug blogs and web sites litter the in internet as do products to protect against the little vampires.

One of the primary reasons for the interest in bedbugs from the public is the frequency by which these vermin are transported back to the homes of vacationers and business travelers. Once bedbugs enter a home or hotel, even office complex, they are excruciatingly hard to eradicate. Bedbugs have evolved over tens of thousands of years to adapt to their main meal ticket, humans. Newly resistant to a broad range of chemicals, bedbugs have flourished since the banning of DDT in the seventies.

Although bedbugs have never been proven to be a transmission vector for any disease, few studies have been done on this subject. The only danger to human health so far , is the allergic reaction people can experience after being bitten.

Bedbugs are spread 2 ways. By people transporting them in luggage or belongings and by migration between rooms, condos or apartments.

With the above said, here are the top 5 travel accessories to protect yourself, and prevent infesting your home with bedbugs.

1) A Travel Sheet – Make sure, whichever travelsheet you choose, that it is zippered and enclosed on 3 sides and that it is washable in hot water and dry-able in hot air. Heat is the only way to effectively kill bedbugs and their eggs. A travel sheet can’t be 100% effective, only a heavy duty garbage bag sealed all the way around can guarantee no bedbug bites. But a travel sheet will mitigate your exposure and protect you from a host of other ills.

2) Bedbug-Proof Bags for your belongings – Many companies make bags especially for the purpose of protecting your clothes from being infested by bedbugs while they are folded in the drawers of your hotel room. This might seem like overkill but it happens all the time. Even commonly used plastic zipper bags, like the ones used for food are effective. Heavy duty garbage bags also work well but you must seal them very well. Bedbugs can fit through the smallest of spaces.

3) Painters Tape – An excellent deterrent, painters tape will not damage your room but will prevent bedbugs from crossing over wherever it is applied. Around the headboard, mattress, bed, bed legs, inside drawers etc. It takes very little time to apply, is inexpensive and can even be used in luggage.

4) Non Toxic Sprays -  There are so many products on the market that claim the ability to kill on contact and continue providing protection. Be aware, some work, some don’t. The best way of determining which brand to use is either by word of mouth or testimonials. Included in this group is food grade diatomaceous earth, powder made of the exoskeletons of microscopic sea creatures. DT kills by wearing away the protective coatings or scratching the exoskeletons of the bedbugs causing them to eventually die of exposure or dehydration. I say “ eventually “ because it takes time for DT to work. Remember if you buy DT it MUST be food grade otherwise it is a danger to humans and pets.

5) Luggage Sanitizers – Most of these are sprays meant to kill bedbugs. Sprayed in luggage, they kill bedbugs and their eggs so they won’t infest your home. There is one product on the market that kills by heat. Luggage is placed into the product which is turned on and heats up to a pre determined temperature and holds this temperature for a period of time, long enough to kill the bedbugs and eggs. A great idea if chemicals are not your choice. This product is especially efficient for a frequent business traveler  as it is a one time investment.

Bedbugs have made a spectacular comeback, affecting all walks of life and the problem is not going to go away anytime soon because bedbugs are spread by people who have no idea they are spreading them. Bedbug infestations can only be prevented through vigilance and education. All it takes is one pregnant bedbug to start an infestation. Check your room, use a travel sheet, inspect your luggage, good luck.

It is always every parents pride to have a baby. To this effect, they will make sure nothing is left to chance when it comes to the comfort of the baby. If only it is within their means, they will make sure the new born baby is actually given the best of reception into this new world.

Baby stroller travel system is one of the many items parents would like to have in place for the travel needs of the baby. The benefits of this are quite many.

For instance in your attempt to transport your baby, you would agree with me that a number of bodily movements within the car is involved. Again, you wouldn’t do anything to disturb the child when enjoying its sleep. If those are the points then you would also agree with me that there is absolutely no way you can realize this without the baby being worried. This is exactly when the baby stroller travel system comes in to serve a purpose. This facility will allow the baby to enjoy a sound sleep without being awaken.

One other thing aside knowing the importance of the baby stroller travel system is the period where you make the attempt of buying one. In fact, there are several of them currently but trust me, it wouldn’t be a wise decision to jump onto the market and grab any without taking certain things into consideration.

Everybody wants to maximize profit out of scarce resources. This means the money needed for this investment must certainly be worth it. You will have to consider your taste and likeness. This is for the reason that the baby stroller travel system comes in various patterns and designs. You should be able to choose one that will be ideal for you.

Again, baby stroller travel system has several sizes to make your choice. This decision will be dependent on the size of your car for instance. Remember the types include the lightweight, Double strollers and the Full-side strollers etc. Your focus is to satisfy your baby and that must also inform your choice.

It should interest you to know that the lightweight is quite portable as well as being affordable. Also if you carry twins or two infants that are unable to walk for long distance, you may consider the Double strollers to give you more convenience.

Another thing to consider quite aside these is the brand you intend buying. Since there are a number of them out there, you have the freedom to choose any baby stroller travel system you deserve. This means you can compare prices, quality and reliability of the company you want to deal with before you make any monetary commitment. Try it and put that smile on your lovely baby today!

One thing that is worth knowing is the fact that your ability to ensure their safety and comfort has several benefits for you the parent. This is but one of the companies out there that are into the manufacture of quality facilities for the comfort of infants in a car. Among some of these items produced by peg perego include the child booster and the convertible car seats. The system, even though very quality and useful, they are less expensive and very affordable.

Let’s now consider some of the striking feature of peg perego travel system that should attract you to use them. The first is the 5 point safety harness. This is very important seat belt for your security. In fact, it would be recommended that if a car seat does not have this, you better ignore it.

Peg perego travel system also has EPS Energy absorbing liner. The importance of this is to absorb and distribute energy. What this means is that it ensures that the chances of seat failure becomes very minimal.

Another important feature of the system is that it has what is known as the Latch system. The latch simply stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for children. This facility usually built in new cars is to anchor and also to ensure the safety of people onboard the car. Children feel very safe with this in place.

The adjustable seat belt is one of the features of peg perego travel system. With this, parents are able to adjust the seats. This can be done either vertically or in a reclining position. It is worth knowing that the seat position is dependent on the age as well as the size of the child. The system also has what is called the weight restriction to monitor the child. Usually the recommended weight falls within the range of 5Ibs to 40Ibs.

The Ins and Outs of Travel Insurance

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

Travel insurance gives you a comprehensive range of benefits that you may need when you are away from home and whether you are travelling by air, rail or road. A travel insurance policy offers you protection against a variety of common culprits such as lost baggage or travel delay.

Before you choose your travel insurance policy there are some things to think about. First of all, where will you be travelling? Insurance policies vary in the extent of their territorial cover and the related premiums, so you should check that all your planned destinations are included in your insurance policy.

It is possible to obtain country specific policies, for example, if you are only travelling within Europe then taking out a European-specific policy will suffice. If you plan to travel to a few different countries then worldwide cover is what you should be looking for.

You should also make sure the length of your insurance policy covers the whole trip. If you are a frequent traveller you could save time and money by opting for a policy that covers all your trips during a specific period, such as six months or one year.

If you are travelling with small children then check the details of your policy to ensure they are covered. Young children travelling with their parents may be covered jointly under a family plan at a reduced premium though it is worth double checking details of the policy such as the age limit for the little travellers.

Another important place to look on your policy is the exclusions section. Travel insurance does not cover all eventualities and each item of coverage may be subject to general and specific exclusions.

Each travel insurance policy differs in terms of what is and is not covered. There tends to be a list of general exclusions, such as illegal acts or professional sports. If you are a lover of extreme sports then look for policies that cover you. This is a common query and a suitable policy should not be troublesome to find.

When you are actually travelling carry either the original insurance policy or its photocopy with you. Most insurers also have a helpline you can call if you have any queries.

If you do not have a travel insurance policy in place and a loss or accident occurs you could end up significantly out of pocket.

If you fall ill overseas and need to be returned to the United Kingdom it could cost you thousands of pounds, unless you are adequately insured. If you were holidaying in Australia, one of the most popular destinations for British travelers, and needed to be brought back to Britain it would cost in the region of £15,000 to £20,000, a substantial sum when compared to the price of just taking out a policy in the first place.

Bandhavgarh Travel Tour Information

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

In Bandhavgarh, tiger sighting is very organized. Local guides, armed with walkie-talkies, assist visitors in tracking elusive tigers; if a tiger is spotted, the word spreads, bringing tourist-packed jeeps inside the park. We found ourselves to be the fifth vehicle in line and jeeps were piling up behind us all the time. Two elephants were constantly ferrying tourists to ‘the spot’. After 15 minutes, we were put upon an elephant and taken to where we could see the tigress.

She lay asleep on a shaded spot when our elephant found her, full-bellied after eating from the clutch of bones, all that remained of a chital kill. She seemed exhausted by the strain of caring for her litter of cubs, whose mewing I could just make out from still higher up the slope. We were just 20-odd feet from the tigress, close enough to hear her steady, deep breathing. Over the next half hour, three more elephants bearing tourists came and went. Cameras clicked. But the tigress slept on, oblivious. After some time, our guide urged the elephant towards a little stream that twists along the base of the hills. He splashed across the narrow stream, then along the bottom of the hillside, slowly trudging back to our jeep. The sun was sinking now, the forest silent. I asked our guide if the tigers ever reacted to the tourists. “Most tigers in this region have been habituated to human presence,” he informed me. Amen.

Bandhavgarh is spread at vindhya hills in Madhya Pradesh. Bandhavgarh consists of a core area of 105 sq km and a buffer area of approximately 400 sq km of topography varies between steep ridges, undulating, forest and open meadows. Bandhavgarh is known for the Royal Bengal Tigers The density of the Tiger population at Bandhavgarh is the highest known in India

Bandhavgarh National Park was the former hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Rewa and at present is a famous natural hub for White Tigers. White Tigers, now a major attraction around the world’s zoos, were first discovered in Rewa, not far from here. The terrain is broken, with rocky hill ranges, running roughly east west, interspersed with grassy swamps and forested valleys.

A small National Park, the density of the tiger population at Bandhavgarh, is the highest point in India. Also known as White tiger country, prior to becoming a national park, the forests around Bandhavgarh, have long been maintained as a Shikargarh or game preserve of the Maharajas of Rewa. The maharajas and their guests carried out hunting, as it was considered a good omen for a Maharaja of Rewa to shoot 109 tigers. In 1947, when the state of Rewa, was merged with Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh came under its regulations. But the Maharajah of Rewa, still retains the hunting rights.

Personal Protection and Traveling Alone

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Traveling alone makes people vulnerable and open for danger.  There are many things that you can do for personal protection to ensure your safety.

When you are traveling alone and you know you will be alone it is very important to plan your trip in advance.  Know where you are going to be, learn the map, determine your transportation and more.  If you get a rental car the best thing you can do is get the GPS system.  The last thing you want to happen is to get lost from your hotel on a bad side of town.  A GPS allows you not to have to stop to ask strangers that you don’t know for directions.  Also, you should find out if the place you are traveling to is a safe destination for women to go to, especially if you are headed out of the country.

When you are traveling alone it may be tempting to get a cheap hotel so you can save money.  One thing to consider is that the majority of the criminals are not going to target people in the larger and safer hotels.  This is because the larger hotels have a valet service, security guards, security cameras, and provide a safe place to stay.  The cheaper places may have the door to your room on the outside of the hotel, no security, and may not even have a well lit parking lot.  Also, when you choose your hotel make sure it is near attractions and the location you need to go to.  This way you won’t have to travel as far and you will minimize the chances of getting lost.

If you are traveling to another country it is important to learn the language a little bit so you do not have too big of a communication gap.  When you are alone in another country and something happens to you it will be impossible to find help if you cannot speak the language. Practice before you plan your vacation.

Another very important thing you need to do when you are traveling out of the states by yourself is find out where the US embassy is located.  If you are robbed, attacked, raped, kidnapped, or anything else this is where you need to go.  They will protect you and get you back to the states and home to your family.

You might consider personal devices for protection and self defense when you travel out of the country.  Always find out what the laws are before you board a plane.  You don’t want to end up in a foreign jail because you didn’t do the proper research.  Take care of yourself and plan ahead so you can have a safe vacation.

When you are traveling out of the country there are many things you need to consider so you are as safe as possible.  The best thing you can do is plenty of research on the crime and the city you are going to.  Find a big and safe hotel and don’t be too cheap.  Paying for safety is the best thing you can do in another country.  Also, find the US embassy and be clear about how to get to it.

Things To Do Before Buying Travel Insurance

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Going back to Roman times, risks have been shared during times of tragedy and unforeseen circumstances, such as earthquakes, floods and the like. The first formal and recorded insurance company, Lloyd’s of London, was formed in 1769 and their founding principal remains intact today – to gather the premiums of clients as a pool of resources in order to return to clients who experience unexpected and unforeseen but covered events. So, that is the secret really, plan for the unexpected and unforeseen and make sure you’re covered, especially when you’re travelling. Whether your trip is a quick one or a round the world cruise, there are many good reasons for travel insurance. Here are just 7 things you should do before you buy your travel insurance:

Whatever you do, please explore the market and educate yourself with all the terms and terminologies of the travel insurance cover that will help you to avail the best travel insurance.

Certainly check what is included in your travel insurance policy but most importantly, check what is EXCLUDED from your travel insurance policy.

Research the area you are going to. What is the weather likely to be like? Is there any danger of hurricanes or tropical storms? Floods? How about Mosquito borne disease? What is the crime rate like? Whatever the perceived dangers your research uncovers then make sure that your travel insurance covers you for that eventuality. It is no good after the event to find out that you are not covered for rabid dog attacks (because there are so many in that particular area).

Discuss Your Existing Medical Conditions and Requirements – You need to carefully assess your likely medical requirements and make sure that these are declared to the travel insurance company.

If you intend to drive make sure that you are adequately covered. Many hire companies charge astronomic excesses in case of an accident. Make sure that you insured for that excess (and it will be a lot cheaper than paying the hire company’s rates for that same cover).

Make sure you have the necessary documentation for travel in that country. Take Spain for example which is part of the European community and will offer free health care say to a UK citizen on holiday or living there. There are certain conditions, one of which is that you must have a UK E111 form, if you don’t have that, you will not be treated. You must also go to a national health hospital, which are not in abundance in certain areas of Spain.

If travelling in Europe, it may pay to get a EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) as this will remove a lot of worry should you need any emergency treatment.

Okay, so there you have it. 7 things to do before buying travel insurance for the next trip you make. The other alternative of course is to not take out travel insurance, or to stay at home. Now, there’s an idea. But seriously, as always when taking out insurance, especially travel insurance, read the fine print first. Importantly, find out before you go what is excluded, not just included. So, always read the fine print. For example, accidental coverage is not provided in case of drunken driving, driving under the influence of narcotic substances etc. Exclusions are also provided for accidents during risky sports like bungee jumping, car racing, (insert for your favourite potentially dangerous sport here), scuba diving, white water rafting, flying (except as passenger in regular airliners), gliding, skiing, bike racing, diving, mountaineering, windsurfing etc. The list goes on. That means in case of accidents in these situations the insurance company is not liable to pay any amount to the insured.

Travel Safety Tips

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

Traveling can be for business or for pleasure but whatever the reason when traveling one must be extra cautious. It is said that better safe than sorry. Firstly it is always better to get familiar with the place you intend to visit, research the place you are going to to visit. Get familiar with the local customs and regulations of the place that you are visiting. Check out if there is any advisories health or otherwise by any Government on the place that you intend to visit, it is best to avoid such places but if the travel is inevitable then it is best to be extra cautious while traveling.

Travel insurance is must for travelers. Medical insurance should be covered with direct payment. If possible you should make two copies of your passport and leave one copy with a member of your family. The original passport should be kept separately from the copy. You should always have a copy of the passport with you. Remember to carry your passport on your person always and not in the carry bag or back pack. While traveling to not so visited places it is advisable to keep valuables, cash, travelers checks and passport in a sealed envelope with your sign across the seal in the hotel safe. However if it is not existing then it is better to keep them in your suitcase or back pack and lock the suitcase or backpack.

Carrying cash can be tedious but it is useful to have some cash along with credit card or travelers checks. Cash should be kept in a pouch and attached to your belt or tied in a string around you neck. Larger bills should be kept there and the smaller denominations can be kept in outer pocket. Taking out large denominations cash notes, flashing jewelry or expensive items in crowded place is not advisable for your own safety. Use ATMs only during daytime and if necessary then use ATMs at night in malls or ATMs with a guard outside. Be very careful while using credit cards, always take the receipt while using credit card.

While traveling on public transport keep the baggage tagged properly from the bus service with the destination marked properly. Lock all the bags properly with proper key lock or combination lock. Never use any cheap lock while traveling. When you reach your destination keep a watch on the luggage or it may disappear and you won’t be able to find it. Keep the luggage in the trunk if traveling by car but keep the trunk locked.

Map of your destinations should be carefully read before setting out. You should have at least some idea about the whereabouts so that even if you get lost you can ask directions and make your way back. Take care of your briefcases or handbags while sitting in café or restaurant. Places with heavy crowd attract small time thieves and your briefcase or hand bag can disappear within moments. Try not to venture out in isolated place during night time. They are generally hub for thugs and muggers, even beaches should to be avoided very late at night.

Tips for Pregnant Travelers by CheapOair

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

1. Consulting your Doctor : Before booking your travel plans consult with your OB/GYN. If you know where you want to go, do some research and print it out, so you can bring it with you to your doctor’s appointment and discuss it with him or her. Your doctor would be able to offer you correct advice on whether or not it’s ok for you to travel. He/she would also be able to advice on whether or not it’s ok for you to go for immunization as it has become an absolute necessity due to serious disease threats and more and more airlines urge the travelers for same.

2. Choosing When to Travel : As per the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists, air travel is safe for pregnant women during the second trimester – weeks 18 to 24. If you are considering a flight during your pregnancy, check with the airline before you book. Still. We urge you to consult your doctor and OB/GYN, also getting a medical certificate from your doctor confirming that it’s safe for you to travel.

3. Letting Folks Know you’re Pregnant : Before booking your airfare, while booking your hotel and when you get to the airport, be sure to let everyone know that you’re pregnant. Not only might this be of help to you in case of an emergency, while on board, most airlines ensure that you get extra care while travelling. They might offer better seating and assist you in getting a special meal request. If you are making your booking through a travel agent, be it an online website like CheapOair; let them know you’re pregnant.

4. Choosing the Right Airline Seat : Travelling is always strenuous and choosing the right airline seat can make your trip a lot less stressful. Especially when it comes travelling during pregnancy, it can make a big difference. Try and reserve a spacious seat when you make your booking.

  • If choosing a seat prior to making your reservation is not allowed, arrive at the airport early and ask for a bulkhead seat. The bulkhead is the partition between business class and economy.
  • Another great seat is an aisle seat, especially on long haul flights. It could save you a lot of stress. You also wouldn’t have to squeeze past other passengers every time you want to get in and out of your seat.
  • Explore the possibility of being upgraded or having a seat with a couple of open seats next to you, so you can spread out and lie down.
  • Always go for seats with lots of legroom.

5. Dressing for Travel : Travelling while pregnant you might want to choose comfort over fashion, so that you can relax during your journey.

  • Invest in some support stockings, these will reduce the risk of blood clots.
  • Choose to wear slip-on shoes that are roomy and comfy with thin socks. Feet tend to swell during flights and wearing comfortable shoes helps in avoiding such situations.

6. While On Board : Now that you have breezed through security and gotten the seat of your choice, you’ve completed phase one, so to speak.

  • Check on board food options to make sure you get a meal that won’t upset your stomach.
  • Ask the flight attendant to help you with your carry-on luggage.
  • Avoid caffeinated drinks, stick to drinking plenty of water, diluted fruit juices and milk. Bring your own healthy snacks and drink for long haul flights, or in case there is a delay.
  • Take plenty of walks and stretch breaks, since your joints and ligaments are more agile when you are pregnant, you are more prone to backaches. Regular movement will help overcome aches and pains.
  • Eat and drink small amounts frequently to keep your blood sugar levels stable.

7. The Final Step : After you’ve planned everything, here are a few extra tips.

  • Have a list of emergency phone numbers and names handy. Also check on the list of local hospitals from the embassy or tourist board.
  • Avoid any dangerous water sports or activity where you might run the risk of hurting yourself.
  • Bring your medical notes with you, in case you need to be hospitalized.

Millions of pregnant women continue with their normal lives for the duration of their pregnancy, with a few minor exceptions and travelling isn’t one of them. By following these travel tips, we hope that taking a vacation and booking flights shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

Travel Value

Friday, October 9th, 2009

When searching for value in travel, everyone comes in contact with the package travel holiday. Before you recoil in horror, let’s face it, if you are going to a place for the first time and want to do this safely and within a budget, packaged holidays often can’t be beat. They will provide your airfare, hotel, often with a choice of several grades, from economy to luxury and travel from the airport. Keep in mind that the hotels often offer 2 meals with this kind of booking and the package usually includes a sightseeing bus or vouchers for sightseeing. Often the package holiday includes other helpful discounts, such as museum passes. The package holiday may not be your style, but unless you have the time to really research your destination, this type of tour may provide the ultimate in sightseeing at a good price and safe and comfortable conditions.

However there is a type of holiday travel value that is growing in popularity. It is a sort of organized tour for the independent traveler. Several companies has sprung up that offer a type of unguided but planned holiday that offers perhaps not the cheapest price but undeniably great value for your holiday dollar.

The prototype of this kind of company is an American based purveyor started 35 years ago called Idyll Untours. Untour is aimed at the independent traveler who doesn’t want to do everything him or herself. Untour offers a many destinations throughout the world and a choice of apartments therein. They book the apartment for your and sort the traveler out with maps, information on the area and a travel car or car rental, both obtained at group rates not offered to the independent traveler. These savings are passed on to the client, as well as the name of a contact person at the destination in case something goes wrong. This person is also a helpful source of information and will coordinate activities with other people traveling independently through this company. Idyll sends brochures with information on the history of the region, entertainment, things to do and general information, everything you want from a tour. However the difference is that once the information is given, Idyll bows out and allows the traveler to experience travel on his own and at the desired pace. The traveler has the full knowledge that, should a problem arise, there is support and help available.

Another company offering trips for the natures is New Experience, a small family run organization base in the United Kingdom. They also book the basics of a holiday, airline travel and hotel, with a range of choices from nearly hostel accommodations, or bed and breakfast type to four stars. They equip the traveler with maps, information and a rail card that provides a 50% saving on transportation at the destination. They send a detailed brochure of activities and let the traveler at peace to explore.

This type of organized tour, but not a tour, is to my mind the ultimate travel value. The nuts and bolts of travel have been solved, and the traveler is left to discover the destination at his own pace and in his own way.

Travel Savings Tips

Friday, October 9th, 2009

Travel, as exciting and interesting as it is, is also one of the most expensive things we choose to do. But if you keep a few things in mind, your holiday can be fun without breaking the budget. A small amount of research and effort can yield significant travel savings, and careful planning can be the best tool for travel savings. There are some tried and true tips for saving money while traveling, and several are presented below.

Car rentals are still a good way to stretch the travel dollar. Even though it seems expensive, remember the airport shuttle often costs around $50 per person, much more than the cost of an economy car rental. This will allow you affordable transportation for sightseeing and trips to the countryside, another money saver. Also, coupons and discounts are often offered by car rental companies and credit cards companies as incentives and promotions. Your airline may offer a great price on a car rental from a partner company. Take advantage of these deals to save or to upgrade to a more comfortable, vehicle.

If you don’t want to rent a car or it will not be useable, try to book a hotel that includes a free airport shuttle service. This can save enough for a good dinner. Many motels at airport locations offer free parking for the length of your travel if you stay one night at either leg of your trip. This can be a travel saver and a super convenience.

If this is a family travel, look for special airline incentives that offer free companion tickets or companion fares at lower rates. Also plan to eat meals where kids eat free and you can split meals. This can result in huge savings for a family of four or larger. Restaurants that are kid friendly usually accommodate requests for extra plates and relaxed places where everyone can feel comfortable after a day of travel and sightseeing.

Don’t eat every meal out. Even if you are not traveling as a family, eating out is often the most expensive part of travel. You’ll be surprised what q nice change from restaurant food a peanut butter sandwich, chips, and fresh fruit makes. Book a hotel that has an in room coffee maker and purchase fresh bagels for breakfast. Or get deli takeout or a pizza for one relaxed night in. Take that much needed break from the crowds at tourist destinations.

Find and use coupons for travel savings. These are often offered for lodging, food, or attractions. You can find them everywhere, online, in local newspapers, and they save money. Also, seek out and take advantage of multi-day passes at amusement parks.

Bring your own water and snacks. People spend nearly $10 per day per person on just water and snacks. Sure, indulge yourself when you see really inviting salt-water taffy or fudge store but for the basics, bring your own.

Making your own reservations can result in travel savings. Many hotels and airlines offer additional discounts and specials for booking online. This also holds true for car rentals.

Doing a bit of work and seeking out promotions shall result in significant travel savings. Remember, the tourist attractions and hotels want you to return as much as you want another vacation.

How Travel Insurance Can Give You A Stress Free Holiday

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Everyone wants to have a stress free holiday. You go on holiday to get away from the usual challenges and annoyances of life so that you can just relax. The problem is that travelling can bring about stresses that you would not even find in your daily life. This does not mean that you should cancel your holiday or that it will be filled with stress. It only means that when you do go on holiday you should take along travel insurance.

But What Could Happen?

So what could happen on your holiday that would require travel insurance? Basically, what could go wrong when you are on holiday? To begin with, you could fall ill before you even get to go and you may have to cancel your entire trip. This would certainly interfere with your travel plans.

You could have a medical emergency or some sort of accident in the midst of your travels, interrupting your holiday or cutting it short. Depending on where you are, you may need to be airlifted to the appropriate medical facilities. On a smaller scale, your bags could get stolen or could be lost somehow, and these are just a few of the things that could happen.

What Can Travel Insurance Do?

Travel insurance can help you with each of these situations as they happen. While the odds may seem slim that even one would happen in the course of your trip, this is what every traveller thinks until they are faced with one of these calamities. You never think it will happen to you until it does.

Trip cancellation insurance will pay you back the money you lost on fees and reservations if your trip is cancelled because of illness or weather. Emergency medical travel insurance and evacuation insurance will help you with medical bills involving medical emergencies and any necessary evacuation costs. Travel insurance can also help you to recoup the money you lost in the form of your baggage and belongings. Basically, whatever happens on your holiday, there is a good chance that you can find a form of travel insurance to protect you from it.

How Can Travel Insurance Protect You In The Long Term?

While many focus on how travel insurance can help protect you from losing the money you already spent, it is also good to take a look at how travel insurance can protect you from future expenses. Medical bills do not come cheap no matter where you travel. Throw in the costs of an emergency evacuation to proper medical facilities and you could be looking at steep medical bills that could take you a very long time to pay off. Whether you become sick or injured or experience other big bills as a result of problems with your holiday, travel insurance can protect you.

Travel insurance can give you a stress free holiday because it can protect you from what might happen. While you don’t want it to happen and it probably won’t happen, if it does then travel insurance will be there for you. You can have a stress free holiday with travel insurance.

The availability of Eurail pass can reduce your expenses to a considerable amount in the train travel.

While buying the tickets, note down the timing, number, and the class of your trip. Further you should choose, whether you are travelling one-way or up and down rail trip. Some trains need early reservations. So book European rail travel accordingly.

Travel to India

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Grandly protruding into the Indian Ocean, India is more of a continent than a country. This subcontinent covers every topographical wonder, from white sandy island beaches and tropical forests to high deserts and soaring mountain ranges. Discover 5,000 years of human history, beginning with one of the oldest civilizations of the Indus River Valley who merged with Aryan invaders around 1500 B.C.E. to create the classic Indian culture that still thrives today. With 26 World Heritage Sites sprinkled about the country, it is easy to be immersed in the intricacies of local culture in nearly each of the 28 states and 7 territories.

Thriving Cities and Clashing Cultures: The Beauty of the North

The northern region of India is an assorted mix of cultures, traditions, languages and arts. The vulnerability of this area to outside invaders throughout history has been both a blessing and a curse, bringing with the turmoil unique external influences and inspirations. The capital city of New Delhi, with its mix of four major religions, 7 reigns of power and 2500 years of history, is a prime example of coexisting realities. Wind your way through Old Delhi and be surrounded by remnants of the Mughal Empire, including the largest mosque in India, the Jama Masjid, and Humayun’s Tomb, a 16th century landmark of breathtaking Mughal architecture that would later be echoed in the Taj Mahal. New Delhi is almost a different world with its imperial architecture and broad stately boulevards. Colonial influence is abundant since the British declared Delhi the capital during their rule. The Taj Mahal is also in the north, about 200 kilometers from Delhi. This is the most iconic demonstration of Mughal construction and should not be missed.

A Light into the Heartland: Travel India’s South

Travel to the more culturally homogenous south of India and witness thousands of years of the caste system still in practice despite the more modern structure of India’s government. With its alluring tales of trade and independence, Goa is one of the most popular destinations along the Indian coastline. Among Goa’s ancient ruins stands the Vittala Temple, a monumental tribute to the capital city of the primeval Vijayangara Empire. Most notable are the temple’s musical pillars that represent different musical instruments. Goa’s intricate architecture and independent culture are also products of 450 years of Portuguese colonial rule. In the south, the traveler will also encounter a plethora of biodiversity and protected wilderness areas. The Western Ghats Range is classified as one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots where Silent Valley National Park protects India’s last tract of virgin tropical evergreen forest.

When to Travel to India

Despite the gargantuan size of this subcontinent, there are distinct seasons during which travel anywhere in the country can be extraordinarily uncomfortable and stressful. From April to October, temperatures soar above 90F (45C) and humidity escalates to unbearable levels. I Am Tired of Being Misled While Traveling – I Need Only the Best Travel Guides!

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

This is why airports always seem to have the highest concentration of annoyed people.  Travel agents, tourist maps and offers, hotel mix ups, delayed flights and cancellations, all of these things happen on a regular basis and seem to automatically toss an unwelcomed wrench into the vacation plans of those that have come to need their private get-a-way.  Finding the best travel guides has become quite the strenuous chore recently, but with a little help from me, you will be well on your way to Cancun without all of the expected travel mishaps that are caused by some travel agents’ not doing their jobs.

I would say that the best course of action would be to log onto the internet and compare all of the deals that a quick search on Google would bring up, but this might be where all of your troubles begin.  Finding the best travel guides online has become an incredibly tricky endeavor lately with all of the scam artists that seem to have taken refuge there lately.  However, I am not going to say that logging onto the internet in search for the best travel guides is a bad idea, it is just a matter of what to look for.  There is a trust that any travel places in their travel guides simply cannot be violated, a sacred trust that must be maintained, lest their reputations will begin to precede them in ways that is, well, less than reputable.

This they know, the scam artists, I mean, and that is why they never use the same website twice.  Switching their hosting servers, their URLs, even their business names in order to fool their potential customers has become rather common place for these crooks, making them extremely hard to point out.  That is why the only businesses that you can really trust are those that already have a standing reputation for good service, and this requires years of public use and exposure in order to accumulate.

Finding the best travel guides on the internet can be difficult, but when it comes right down to it, it is a matter of researching these companies before using their services that eliminates the real traveling threat.  In short, the real threat to your vacation’s sanity lies within your ability to spend the time needed to find whether or not your chosen company is really who they say they are.

How To Save For Africa Safari Travel

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009

With the resources available to travelers and the global crunch biting hard, the strength of the America dollar in many safari holiday destinations such as Kenya Uganda Tanzania and the safari packages offered by tour companies and safari agencies it’s easy for travelers to plan budget safaris to Africa. But safaris in Africa still costs money, and the thought of coming up with even a few hundred dollars can be a daunting one for many cash-strapped travellers. With a little creativity, willpower, and yes, a bit of sacrifice, you can whittle down your expenses and find ways to fund your travel dreams.

Reduce Your Power, Water, and Gas Bills
There are several ways to reduce your utilities bills without living like you’re back in the dark ages. Unplug appliances (which can still suck up to 40% of their normal energy usage even when turned off) when they aren’t in use, take shorter showers and turn off the faucet when you brush your teeth.

Brown Bag it to Lunch
Bringing your own lunch to work doesn’t have to mean resigning yourself to an eternity of peanut-butter and jelly sandwiches. There are plenty of creative and delicious lunches you can make at home and take with you.

Clean Out Your Credit
If you have significant debt, your interest rates could account for a large portion of your monthly expenses. Work on getting your debt paid off, starting with the cards with the highest interest rate. If you can, transfer the balance to a zero-interest card and pay it off before the interest kicks in.

Buy and Sell at Second-hand Shops
Chances are you’ve got a closet full of clothes yet still you find yourself buying more. To revamp your wardrobe on a small budget, take your forgotten threads to a resale or consignment shop. You can leave with cold hard cash, or trade the clothes for credit to buy new-to-you duds in the latest styles.

Cut Out Cable
At $30, $50, $100 or even more per month, cable TV isn’t exactly cheap. If you’re a total TV addict, this might not be a strategy for you, but if you don’t watch the tube all that much, consider cutting out cable and watching only the basic channels. With most shows available on DVD or the internet now, you might not even miss it.

Sell, sell
See all those unused, unneeded, forgotten belongings cluttering up your closet or basement? Now’s the time to get rid of it all. Host a garage or estate sale, or go the electronic route and post it all on craigslist or ebay. Nicer clothes can be taken to resale and consignment shops, old electronics can be pawned, gold can be sold to jewelry stores, and books and cds can earn a bit of cash at a store specializing in used goods.

Go Cash Only
It’s easy to overspend when you never have cash. Seeing the pile of bills physically shrinking can help you pay more attention to how much you spend. At the beginning of each month, pay-period or week, take out the cash you are allowed to spend on non-essentials (everything other than bills) and commit to sticking to that amount.

Remember, Your Budget is Your Friend
It’ll be nearly impossible to save a significant amount of money without embracing the idea of budgeting. You don’t need to be a math whiz or computer genius to write out and track your budget; a simple Excel spreadsheet, or even just a pen and paper, will do. Start by keeping track of all of your expenses for a month. At the end of the month, take a look at what you’ve spent and start figuring out where to cut. Make a plan you can live with for the next month, and most importantly, stick to it!

Do Odd Jobs
If you live in a friendly neighborhood or apartment complex, offer odd job services to your neighbors. Post flyers for dog walking, cat sitting, lawn-mowing, house-cleaning, or handy-man or baby-sitting services depending on your skill set. You’ll earn money and meet some of the people who live nearby.

Quit Smoking
Do this for your health as well as your travel budget. If you smoke a pack a day, you could be wasting $4-$8 (or more in some cities) on cigarettes

Give up Your Gym Membership
If you’re a gym rat who loves working out, this may not be feasible for you. But if you go once a week or less, why not keep the $30-$100 a month you would have spent on your gym membership and invest in a small home gym instead?
